What must a small business own at the end of an AI engagement?

The business should know who owns and can access every account, source file, configuration, prompt, automation, test case, record, document, vendor relationship, recurring cost, support obligation, known risk, and stop path created or changed by the engagement.

What belongs in the buyer file

  • List deliverables and ownership before work begins.
  • Require operating instructions, training, support boundaries, and access removal.
  • Keep a practical path back to the former process when support or a dependency ends.

Limits and exceptions

  • Possessing files does not prove the business can operate, secure, change, or lawfully use them.
  • Ownership and licensing terms require review of the actual agreement and third-party terms.
